How to recover Exchange 2003 mailbox for a deleted Active Directory account.

I need to recover the mailbox for an account that was deleted from Active Directory a long time ago, and it is past the retention period for the maibox. We are using Exchange 2003. I have restored the database containing the deleted account's mailbox into a Recovery Storage Group on the Exchange server. I created a new AD account with the same user name. Exchange does not recognize the new account as the same account associated with the restored mailbox, and will not let me merge or copy the contents of the restored mailbox to the new account's mailbox. ExMerge no longer works with databases in a Recovery Storage Group. My goal is to extract the contents of the mailbox in the restored database to a PST file. This is urgently needed, so I really appreciate any help. Thanks!

I found the answer to this in a Microsoft TechNet article titled "How to Recover a Purged Mailbox from an Online Backup Using the Original Database Server." I tried it and it worked perfectly.
